Natural Park Pale di San Martino
What to see in Trentino? The attractions suggested by Trentino in Moto for the holiday in the mountain.
The forest of Paneveggio develops in the upper part of the valley of Travignolo and is constituted by the Chain of Lagorai and the tops of Bocche and Juribrutto, closed on east by Pale di San Martino. The forest extends from the height under 1450 meters above the sea level until the limit of the forestal vegetation. The middle altitude is quite high and characterizes a reduced vegetative period: in consequence, also the number of forestal species is limited; the red fir, that finds optimal conditions, is mixed with the larch and the stone pine only at upper heights, while the broad-leaved trees are just exclusively present like subordinated species in the youthful phases.
Here, the Natural Park Paneveggio Pale di San Martino develops and extends for almost 20.000 hectares, by showing mountain landscapes by various colors: walls of white rocks, dark slopes, green valleys, blue rivers, tablelands with rocks and glaciers, alpine pastures and flowered grasslands, clear lakes.
Founded in 1967, the Natural Park of San Martino grows bit by bit and each year it registers an increase of the big public that come here to visit it.
Sitauted in the east sector of the province of Trento, the Park is characterized by three different gegraphical and landscape entities:
North sector: compounded by the Forest of Panevaggio
South-East sector: it includes the chain of Dolomites of Pale di San Martino
West sector: it includes the chain of Lagorai
Through the Visitor Centers it is possible to explore the Park: each one constitutes a small museum where it is possible to recover information about organized initiatives and buy publications and material of naturalistic interest.
